Here at Lievano-Perez, women’s health is important to us. At the same time, we want you to enjoy your holiday feeling healthy and happy! The holidays are full of stressors, and we know that women end up taking up a lot of responsibilities for their families during this time. It’s why we want to offer tips to help you have a healthy and happy holiday. Enjoy the holiday season and even find time to relax! We know you deserve it.
Plan Ahead- Getting overwhelmed during the holiday season is typical. There are so many pressures. Use a realistic timeline so that you don’t have to face all the events and plans in a way that's stressful. Write down your plans on a calendar, so you know where you have to be and go during the week. You can even schedule in time for yourself. As always, you deserve it!
Drink Water- At holiday parties, keep drinking to a minimum. After a glass of wine, drink a glass of water. Also, be sure to avoid alcohol on an empty stomach. Alcohol tends to increase your appetite, so you end up eating more than necessary! Plus, you want control over what you eat—when drinking that self-control can be difficult. Lastly, don't drink and drive.
Avoid Overindulging- When walking around the buffet table, avoid over-indulging by making room for veggies, and filling up your plate to a minimum. Eat slowly and enjoy every bite.
Stay Active- We all tend to get a little too comfortable during the holidays. We all deserve a lazy day on the couch with the family, but we also want you to be healthy! So be sure to stay active—even if it’s just a brisk walk every day.
Pay Attention to What Matters- Instead of focusing on all the stress, and overindulging this holiday break, take time to be grateful and focus on what really matters. You’re surrounded by family and friends, so hopefully, that’s enough to bring you that laughter and cheer this season.
Remember that you can always schedule an exam or screening at Lievano-Perez OB-GYN. We want you to enjoy your holiday with good health.
